Accoustic emission testing to detect leak

Needs

Extension of service life and maintenance optimization of structures + Maximizing Profitability + Developing high efficiency & reliability machines

Solution

Safe Life Extension

Gilles Lhuillier — Boilerwork section, preparator on the Dampierre site

Approximately fifty sensors were installed along the pipe. After running tests, no leak were detected. Acoustic emission testing is flexible and accurate. This method resulted particularly safe and cost-saving, compared to the cost of a shutdown in case of leak.

Customer needs

Checking the perfect leaktightness of the discharge line for the effluents generated by the nuclear production process, in accordance with the nuclear site safety reinforcement policy (further to the Fukushima accident in Japan)

Customer benefits
