Chemical analysis and composition of metallic materials

The car manufacturer Renault chose to entrust to Cetim the analysis of residual stresses introduced by a shot-peening process on the gearing components of its gear boxes. Control is carried out in a continuous way by taking samples from the production lines. A collaboration based on deadlines respect and service quality which allows Cetim to intervene for three european factories of the group.

The goal of the action carried out at Septen EDF by Cetim engineers was to determine the impact of machining conditions on fatigue behaviour of components and improve knowledge of surface condition.

The experimental study realized by Cetim aimed at determining the influence of the fatigue loading mode on the propagation velocity of circumferential transverse cracks and to evaluate possible scale effects.

To improve working conditions, RATP replaces steel by titanium in its coupling devices, while guaranteeing, of course, the same safety levels at use.

To convince its customers of the quality of its new abrasion-resistant and high-elasticity steel, the Belgian steelmaker NLMK Clabecq had to have a number of criteria certified, including the weldability of its products. 

The French manufacturer of pellet mill dies has optimised the operation of its new heat treatment furnace. Moreover, in order to improve the drilling process, surface analyses were also performed on the holes of its dies. 

Ampère Industrie entrusted Cetim with the electrochemical characterisation of its alloys for sacrificial anodes. The tests, performed in accordance with standard DNV-RP-B401 allowed the company to guarantee the quality and the conformity of its alloys on a day-to-day basis. 

As a certifying body specialising in the maritime sector, Lloyd’s Register takes part in the validation of components and materials used in ships. During these verifications, Lloyd’s Register relies on Cetim’s experts in order to carry out the tests.
