Self Climat Morvan

Self Climat Morvan develops wood and pellet boilers with capacities of up to 70 kW. When designing a new pellet boiler using a patented combustion principle, its engineering office attempts to find a solution to simplify access to the 30 kg burner for maintenance technicians. The decision was taken to submit this problem to Cetim experts. These experts base their actions on the Cetinnov innovation method, which can be used to transform an idea into an actual industrial product. 

Boundless imagination 

A brainstorming session was held with Cetim engineers and the Self Climat Morvan design team, after drafting the functional specifications, to allow the former to consider all sorts of solutions, giving full reign to their imagination. The experts of the technical centre started work based on the Cetinnov methodology and identified four solutions, combined with their degree of prefeasibility according to the criteria determined by the manufacturer, weighted according to benefits and drawbacks, and satisfying technical and budgetary limitations. The boiler manufacturer ultimately opted for a mechanical extraction system for the burner using a potentially motorised winch system. 

Fast response times 

The burner extraction system was manufactured in just three and a half months. "Cetim experts, via the Cetinnov method, allowed us to ask the right questions and therefore determine the optimum responses for a mechanical problem for which we did not have the necessary technical skills. We were able to take advantage of their expertise and focus on other design factors for the boiler. If I am once again required to manage a complex development process, I will use this outsourcing option", confirmed the company director, Olivier Kehl.
