Roquette

Roquette, the family-owned group decided to add a dual manufacturing and design inspection to the acceptance test procedure of a new agitated pressure vessel of approximately 290 m³ manufactured by a new international service provider. This dual inspection is to be performed by a third party and consequently Roquette entrusted Cetim with the check of the calculations to the ASME standards. «With a worldwide presence, we want to capitalise on international competition in order to guarantee competitive prices while retaining a very high level of quality, explained Jean-Benoît Beuque, from Roquette’s industrial and technical risk division. To this end, we decided in this case to double our quality controls by calling on a neutral design service provider with recognised pressure equipment expertise. Furthermore, we had to act quickly and be sure of the result. These are the reasons that led us to select Cetim». 

Pre-dimensioning and requalification 

The whole of the equipment was modelled by Cetim’s experts and the calculations optimised with the Castor ESP software for finite element mechanical analysis and PVElite for the calculation of pressure components. Further to the integration of a few load changes applied to the equipment, the new vessel was declared conforming to the design code ASME VIII division 2 and to standard DIN18800 part 4 for the buckling of the skirt. «The calculations performed by Cetim allowed the supplier to develop a product that fully complies with international standards. For Roquette, this cooperation guarantees the high quality of our equipment purchasing. These excellent results led us to continue with Cetim for other operations regarding the preliminary design of new items of equipment and the requalification of products at the end of many cycles», added Jean-Benoît Beuque.
