Eurostar Engineering Plastics (Eurostar-EP) has been providing technical solutions based on thermoplastic resins since 1972. Its new “Star L” range relies on self-lubricating thermoplastic compounds which eliminate the need for external lubrication, reduce maintenance costs, extend part service life, decrease the failure rate, noise and vibrations. This range appeals to the motor vehicle, electrical and electrical household appliances industries.
A joint patent
“It is precisely within the field of self-lubricating thermoplastics that a joint development has been carried out since 2013 by Cetim and Eurostar-EP, explained Gilles Vaesen, Marketing Director at Eurostar-EP, in whose opinion, “this work led to the marketing of a complete range of thermoplastic compounds based on PA6, PA66, POM and PPS resins. They resulted in the development of materials on the basis of technologies covered by a joint patent: solid and liquid lubricant synergy for polyamides and PTFE system and aramid fibre for the PPS.” In reality, Eurostar-EP provides its know-how in the formulation and design of self-lubricating materials. “For its part, Cetim provides its skills and the access to its many items of scientific equipment in the area of tribological characterisation of the materials”, added Gilles Vaesen. Through the combination of these skills, top-of-the-line technical solutions are offered to industrial manufacturers. Many three-party projects between Eurostar-EP, customers and Cetim are underway today.
An original offer
Co-development is an original offer that combines the contribution of know-how, the sharing of risks and financing assistance. Through the co-development of innovative products with Cetim, Eurostar-EP hopes to create new market opportunities and confirm its presence in the world of technical plastics.
