Ampère Industrie, the le ading E u r o p e a n distributor of raw materials and non-ferrous metals for industry and surface treatment, also produces sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection. It took over the "cathodic protection" business of Vieille Montagne with regard to Galva Procat zinc alloys and of Péchiney for Hydral 2C aluminium alloys. With 100% of its production entirely made in France, the company sought out an electrochemical laboratory in France with the expertise and tools for the independent and timely measurement and inspection of the electrochemical properties of its alloys.

"We wanted a partner laboratory that was sufficiently well-known to perform the tests in accordance with Appendix B of standard DNV RP B401 on samples from our various castings," explained Franck Picard, manager of the cathodic protection department at Ampère Industrie. The company which works with Cetim on a regular basis for dimensioning studies of cathodic protection, naturally called on the Centre’s experts for its tests. "We were confident of the skills of Cetim’s experts, added Franck Picard, however the Centre still had to invest in equipment to meet the requirements of the standard and the flow of our test requests." Which it did. "At present, all the tests in accordance with Appendix B of standard DNV RP B401 of our anodic alloy castings are performed at Cetim, further added Franck Picard, which allows us to provide comprehensive quality files. The reports, which are submitted in a timely manner allow us to rapidly meet customer requirements and confirm the electrochemical capacities of our anodes at the same time as they are delivered."
